What is an Exceptional Consignment?
An exceptional consignment is a shipment whose weight, dimensions or loading characteristics exceed the standard limits permitted for normal rail transport. Such consignments require special technical and operational assessment, route clearance, specific loading conditions, speed restrictions and, where required, additional technical supervision or escort arrangements.
What are Dangerous Goods?
Dangerous goods are substances or articles classified under one of the nine classes of dangerous goods in accordance with applicable regulations. Their rail transportation is subject to specific requirements concerning packaging, marking, documentation, loading, securing, and suitable rolling stock and safety procedures.
